Crane, Hoist, and Sling Safety

Moving large, heavy loads is critical to a considerable part of the University’s activities. While cranes are built for safe and economical operation, there are significant hazards to be considered for the equipment operator, workers in proximity to them, and the surrounding facilities. These hazards can be significantly minimized, if not eliminated, through advanced planning and preparation. This page serves as starting point for finding information about this equipment and its operation during development of the UK Crane, Hoist and Sling Safety Program. The program will adhere to the requirements set by the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Administration (KYOSH).
